Why one-time numbers are not always enough

One-time activation numbers are perfect for a single sign-up code and are released about 20 minutes later. Many platforms, however, ask you to verify again: when you log in from a new browser, change a password, add a payment method or after a security review.

If the original number is gone, you may lose access to the account. A long-term virtual number solves this by staying assigned to you so that later codes still reach you.

How long-term rentals work on Proxnum

1. Go to Buy Number and switch to Rentals.
2. Select the country and choose a longer duration (available periods: 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 30 days, 180 days).
3. Select the service and confirm the price shown.
4. Use the number to register. Every code that arrives is listed under Activations → Rentals.
5. Before the period ends, press Extend to see the live renewal options and keep the number.

Renewal options and prices are requested live for your exact number. We show the amount first and only charge your balance after you confirm, so you always know what an extension costs.

Some numbers cannot be renewed, for example when the line is temporarily offline or has reached its maximum rental time. In that case the Extend window tells you so and nothing is charged.

Best practices for long-term numbers

• Rent for the longest period you expect to need; longer durations usually cost less per day.
• Set a reminder to extend a day before the expiry shown on your rental card.
• Turn on an authenticator app where the platform allows it, so you rely less on SMS.
• Keep your Proxnum account protected with two-factor authentication.
